MOMS members participate in a University of Ottawa research study re: Impact on the Family of Incarcerated Loved Ones.

MOMS members spoke to 2nd year Faculty of Law students at Carleton University. The focus of their presentation was to have them consider current conditions at both provincial and federal facilities, impact of Ontario’s bail system on the accused and mental health and/or addiction factors.
May 2016 – The Cost of Human Warehousing
MOMS and CPEP hosted a public forum on OCDC where over 300 people attended. Media coverage was extensive including CBC evening news anchored at the event. The event included presentations on health care, mental health issues, damaging jail conditions, segregation, bail issues and guest speakers included former inmates. It helped to raise awareness of the conditions at the Ottawa-Carleton Detention Centre as well as address both short and long-term implications of inaction.
